Ice Cream Making Contest

Rules for Ice Cream Making Contest

Check in for contest will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Contest will begin at 11:00 am and contestants will have until 3:00 pm to prepare their recipe. Judging will start at 1:30 pm. Winners will be announced at 2:00 pm.

All contestants must provide their own ingredients, ice cream maker, salt and utensils. Ice will be provided by the festival.

Hand or electric crank ice cream makers may be used as long as it produces at least one quart per batch. If you bring an electric ice cream maker, it must not draw more than 20 amps and you must bring a 100ft extension cord.

A limit of three people may represent themselves as a contestant. A limit of three people will be allowed in the ice cream preparation area.

Throughout the day, contestant's cooking area, their ingredients, and their observance of health codes will be scrutinized. All ice cream must be made on-site, including but not limited to sweet and/or creamy ice cream bases. Any failure to allow access to work area or violation of health codes will result in immediate disqualification from contest.

A best of show will be selected and awarded The Spoon.

An entry fee of $20.00 will be accepted in the form of check or money order made payable to Austin Ice Cream Festival.

As this is an event at the Austin Ice Cream Festival, all contestants must have fun. Enjoyment of the contest and participation in all the merriment of the entire festival is mandatory. No exceptions.
